The Nando's Lemon & Herb Peri Peri Sauce is one of the most unique sauces in the world. It is inspired by the African Bird's Eye Chili. A version of it was created in 1987 by Fernando Duarte in a small eatery in Portuguese. He soon found that people loved the taste of the spicy sauce with the delicious marinated and basted Portuguese chicken of the region.
The sauce soon began to grow really popular and is now sold throughout the world, following the same recipe. It includes sun-ripened lemons that add a nice sour, sweetness to the mixture. The exotic, wild herbs also give it an amazing depth of flavor that is unmatched. It pairs perfectly with the delicate meat of chicken and shrimps.
